10 Ways to Prepare For Facial Rejuvenation Surgery
Facial rejuvenation surgery is a major focus of the practice of Dr. John Q. Cook. We have recommendations that will help our patients recover from face lift, neck lift, jaw border lift, brow lift, and eyelid surgery. Our goal is to have you as pleased with the recovery process as you are with the results of surgery.
10 Things to Know about Voluma
Juvederm Voluma® is an injectible filler that is made of hyaluronic acid with a special structure that makes it firmer than other hyaluronic fillers. It is well-suited to restoring deep volume in the cheeks, temples, and other facial areas. Patients who undergo treatment with Voluma® at our Chicago and North Suburban locations benefit from Dr. John Q. Cook’s 15 year experience with facial volumization.
High Lateral Tension Abdominoplasty Is My Preferred Technique
As a plastic surgeon who is interested in refining abdominal contour, I divide my practice into two eras: the time before I used the high lateral tension technique and everything since then. In the earlier era, the abdominoplasty procedure frequently left me a little disappointed. I could tighten the skin of the abdomen, but I didn’t feel I necessarily was creating a beautiful shape, such as I might be able to do with a face lift or a breast lift. Often the results seemed expressionless, lacking in form.
Breast Augmentation Recovery: What You Need to Know
One of my goals for my patients is to optimize your recovery after breast augmentation surgery. This means a quick return to normal light activity and minimal discomfort. There are things that I can do during the surgery to help with this process, and there are things that you the patient can do that are equally important.

Facial Rejuvenation Under Local Anesthesia
Many patients who consider facial rejuvenation surgery forego the procedures because they do not want to experience general anesthesia. Over the past few years we have worked to develop techniques of facial rejuvenation surgery that allow us to rejuvenate all of the major facial zones under local anesthesia.

Hyaluronic Acid In The Skin
The skin is the largest organ in the body. It comprises about 15% of the body weight. Roughly 50% of the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in our body is found in the skin. HA and Collagen are vital to maintaining the skins layers and structure. Collagen gives the skin its firmness and the HA nourishes and hydrates the collagen.
Non-Invasive Skin Tightening, Skin Resurfacing, and Fat Reduction
We have been very pleased with the consistency and quality of skin tightening that we can obtain for our patients with mild to moderate degrees of looseness of skin in the face, neck, upper abdomen, and knees. We make use of the Fractora Firm® technology and have developed a treatment protocol around this.
HealthGems No.4 | Canyons
I recently spent five days at the rim of the Grand Canyon. On four of the five days I hiked into the canyon on different trails. The experience was significantly different from mountain hiking, which is one of my favorite activities. I found that hiking into the Grand Canyon provided a profound disconnection from the numbing aspects of daily existence and really helped to reset all of my senses.
